Rookies Malone and Roberts Win Second Silver Medal at Tokyo

Noah Malone tallied a second silver medal at the Tokyo Games with a new Americas record of 47.93 in the men's 400-meter T12 during the morning session on Thursday, Sept. 2 at the Tokyo Stadium. Malone posted a triumphant effort during his Paralympic debut and finished second to Morocco’s Abdeslam Hili, who clocked a new world record of 47.58. His rise to the podium is an incredible story as he broke onto the scene at the 2019 World Para Athletics Junior Championships with a pair of golds and one silver.

Jaleen Roberts captured an Americas record in the women’s 100 T37 with a time of 13.16 to win her second Paralympic medal and edge out Fenfen Jiang from China (13.17) in the final push. Roberts also captured the women’s long jump T37 silver medal to kick off her first Paralympic Games and placed sixth in the women’s 200 T37. The 2021 Eastern Washington University graduate was training for the Paralympic Games while getting a degree in health and physical education.
