Alexa Halko showcased a season-best performance to win the bronze medal in the women’s 800m T34 with a time of 2:02.22 on Saturday morning at the Tokyo Stadium. Sticking with the pack through the first lap, Halko kicked it into high gear during the last 400 meters to gain a significant lead over the next racer, Fabienne Andre of Great Briatin, who took fourth place (2:09.09).
Great Britain also took home a new Paralympic record with a first-place finish from Hannah
Cockroft (1:48.99), just shy of the world record, and silver from Kare Adenegan (1:59.85).The 21-year-old recorded her fourth Paralympic medal while making her second Games appearance and also posted a sixth-place finish in the women’s 100 T34 in Tokyo. Halko collected a trio of medals in Rio 2016 including two silver medals and one bronze.
Kym Crosby won bronze in the women’s 400 T13, leaning over the line at 56.79 with Spain’s Adiaratou Iglesias Forneiro taking silver (55.53) and Azerbaijan’s Lamiya Valiyeva in first (55.00) with a Parlaymipc record time.
Crosby medaled in each race she competed in at the Tokyo Games, also earning a bronze in the women’s 100 T13 during her second-career Paralympic Games.
