Mavericks Finish 7th at Swan Memorial

DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team closed out their opening tournament of the fall with a seventh-place finish at the Swan Memorial at Todd Creek Golf Course on Tuesday (Sept. 14) afternoon.
 
The Mavericks fell one spot from their day one

finish and had a three-round score of 964 (+100) after a third round 325. UCCS won the team title with a 924 in their three rounds followed by UT Tyler and Midwestern State to round out the top three teams.
 
Veteran Elly Walters paced the Mavericks and put together a solid effort in her third round. Walters shot an even-par, 72 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for second place on the overall leaderboard. She had 16 pars, a birdie, and a bogey in her 18 holes and had the second-best score of the day and third best score of the tournament.
 
Freshman Cassidy Phelan finished in a tie for 30th place after an 83 in her final round of her first collegiate tournament. Phelan opened the tournament in the No. 1 slot in the Maverick order and finished with a solid weekend.
 
UCCS' Julia Baroth finished as the individual medalist with an even-par, 216 in her three rounds that included a 2-under, 70 in today's final round.
 
The Mavericks will be back in action on Monday September 27 when they travel to Arizona for the RJGA Women's Shootout at Estrella Mountain.
