BREAKING NEWS: Daniel Romanchuk Wins Bronze in Men’s Marathon T53/54

On the morning of the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 Closing Ceremony, two-time Paralympian Daniel Romanchuk won the bronze medal in a season-best performance of 1:29:05 in the men’s marathon T53/54 that finished at the Tokyo Stadium. In 2019, at age 20, he became the youngest athlete to win the wheelchair marathon at the Boston Marathon.


Marcel Hug from Switzerland took home the gold in a time of 1:24:02 and China’s Yong Zhang placed second at 1:24:22.


Romanchuk is competing in his second Paralympic Games and will leave Tokyo as a Paralympic champion as he also captured a gold medal in the 400-meter T54. He also recorded a pair of fourth place finishes in the 800 T54 and 5000 T54 as well as one fifth in the 1500 T54.
