2019 USA U16 teammates Janiah Barker (11) and Kiki Rice (7) will play together again at the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup.
Colorado Springs, Colorado (Aug. 11, 2021) – The four-person rosters for the USA Basketball men’s and women’s teams that will represent the USA at the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup today were announced.
Playing for the U.S. men will be: Eric Dailey Jr. (IMG Academy/Tampa, Fla.), Gradey Dick (Sunrise Christian Academy/Wichita, Kan.), Kyle Filipowski (Wilbraham & Monson Academy, Mass./Slate Hill, N.Y.) and Keyonte George (iSchool of Lewisville/Lewisville, Texas).
The U.S. women’s team features: Janiah Barker (Tampa Bay Tech H.S., Fla./Marietta, Ga.), Ayanna Patterson (Homestead H.S./Fort Wayne, Ind.), Kiki Rice (Sidwell Friends School/Bethesda, Md.) and Mikaylah Williams (Parkway H.S./Bossier City, La.).
Training camp will take place Aug. 19-21 in Chicago, and the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup will be played Aug. 24-29 in Debrecen, Hungary.
Nick LoGalbo (Lane Technical College Prep H.S., Ill.) will serve as the USA coach, with Kelly Carruthers (Bowie H.S., Texas) will be the USA assistant coach. In FIBA 3x3 basketball, coaching is not allowed during games.
Barker and Rice helped the USA to a gold medal at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, and both participated in the 2018 USA Basketball Women’s U17 World Cup Team trials.
Patterson, who has verbally committed to the University of Connecticut, attended trials for the 2021 USA U19 World Cup Team and 2019 USA U16 National Team, and she played in the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 U18 National Championship.
Williams is new to USA Basketball, and she is a member of the class of 2023. Barker, Patterson and Rice are set to graduate in 2022.
All four men’s team members are from the high school class of 2022.
Dailey and Dick participated in the 2019 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team July and October minicamps and the 2019 USA U16 National Team training camp, where Dick was one of 18 finalists for the team. Dick, who verbally committed to the University of Kansas, also participated in the 2019 USA MJNT April minicamp.
Filipowski, who verbally committed to Duke University, and George, who verbally committed to Baylor, are new to USA Basketball.
LoGalbo worked as staff at the training camp for the 2020 USA 3x3 Men’s and Women’s Olympic Qualifying Teams in Chicago, and he was a court coach at the 2019 USA Men’s Junior National Team April, July and October minicamps.
Carruthers helped the USA to a gold medal at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, and she was a court coach at the 2015 USA Women’s U16 National Team trials.
Twenty men’s and 20 women’s teams will compete in the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup, and all games will be streamed live on YouTube/FIBA3x3. |
