Jenkins Wins Gold in 100m Fly S10; Coan Captures Silver in 100m Free S6

Team USA wrapped up night seven of Para swimming in Tokyo with its fifth medal of the night with a gold-medal performance from Mikaela Jenkins. The first-time Paralympian won gold in the women's 100m butterfly S10 after clocking in at 1:07.52 on Tuesday night at Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Australia’s Jasmine Greenwood took silver (1:07.89) and Netherlands’ Chantalle Zijderveld rounded out the podium with bronze (1:07.91).


The new Paralympic champion previously

recorded an eighth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke SB9 and still has the 100 backstroke S10 and 200 individual medley SM10 left on her competition slate. 


Three-time Paralympian McKenzie Coan won silver in the women's 100 freestyle S6 with a time of 1:10.22 that was only beat by a new Paralympic record time from Italy’s Giulia Terzi (1:09.21). This marks Coan’s sixth career Paralympic medal and second medal performance of the Tokyo Games after winning gold in the women's 400 freestyle S7.
