Cory Juneau Wins First American Olympic Park Skateboarding Medal with Bronze in Men's Park Skateboarding Debut

Tokyo, Japan (Aug 5, 2021) — History was made this week at Tokyo’s Ariake Urban Sports Park with the debut of Park Skateboarding in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and San Diego's Cory Juneau bringing home the first Olympic Park Skateboarding medal for the United States. Juneau posted a final round score of 84.13 to win the Bronze behind Australia's Keegan Palmer (Gold, 95.83) and Brazil's Pedro Barros (Silver 86.14).

"I’m on the world’s biggest stage with my best

friends, and we all have a special bond that we share because we’re all so passionate about skateboarding,” said Juneau. “We do it because we love it, not because we consider it a sport, or a hobby. It’s our lifestyle, and we make friendships along the way. We encourage each other, support each other, and it’s just a huge honor to get up on the podium with these dudes who I have so much respect. They inspire me every time I get on a skateboard."

Josh Friedberg, USA Skateboarding CEO: “The Men’s Park competition was an amazing way to wrap up skateboarding’s Olympic debut. The level of skating in the finals was incredible and the camaraderie and deep friendships these skaters share forged over the love of skateboarding showed once again what makes this culture so special. Huge congratulations to Keegan, Pedro, and our own Cory Juneau on their Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in the first-ever Men’s Park Skateboarding event.”

Born in San Diego and raised on a wealth of local transitions and skateparks, Cory Juneau accelerated to the top of the ranks early on in his career as an unknown and has since established himself comfortably among skateboarding's elite. At only 22, Cory has one of the smoothest, most effortless styles ever to grace a skateboard, on both park and street, and consistently lands on the podium at major contests around the world—the Olympics now included.
