Super League Triathlon acquired the Malibu Triathlon in December 2020.
"We are delighted to be partnering with USA Triathlon to help deliver the 2021 Collegiate Club National Championships at Malibu Triathlon,” said Michael D'hulst, Super League Triathlon CEO. “This is such an exciting year for Malibu Triathlon. It is the first time we will be running the event since we acquired it, and it will be made even more special by not only the addition of the professional Super League Triathlon race but also the Collegiate Club Nationals, which gives some of the most promising athletes in the USA an incredible platform to perform."

A relay will be held Sunday, Sept. 26, in the traditional relay format with three-person teams (one athlete swimming, one cycling and one running). The relay will be sprint-distance (750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run), and teams will be all-male or all-female. At this time, the Olympic-distance race has a capacity of 800 athletes total.
