OLIVA, SEAWOLVES WIN SONOMA STATE SPRING INVITATIONAL

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – After leading through the first round, the Sonoma State women's golf team returned to Foxtail Golf Course on Tuesday morning and shot a collective 303, en route to a 22-stroke win over runner-up Cal State Monterey Bay. Samantha Oliva bested her round one performance by a single stroke, hitting a par 72 during Tuesday's round two.

Sonoma State dominated the tournament, claiming the top four individual spots and making up two thirds of the all-tournament team. In her top individual performance, Samantha Oliva fired rounds of 72 and 73 in a her one-over-par performance. On her heels were her teammates Jasmine Monas 75+74=149 (+5) who took second, and Sabrina Virtusio 74+77=151 (+7) and Julia Peters 77+74=151 (+7) who tied for third. Rounding out the all-conference team were a pair of Cal State Monterey Bay golfers—Linnea Karlsson and Blake Haverty—who tied for fifth, each shooting 76 in both rounds for an eight-over-par total of 152.

Cristina Picariello just missed a spot in the top-10 with a 77+80=157 (+13) tie for eleventh place, and Karine Oneal jumped 19 places on Tuesday to snag a 20th-place tie 84+76=160 (+16). Lexi Nielsen tied for 50th 81+90=171 (+27) and Alysson Musser shot 87+88=175 (+31) in a tie for 57th. Rounding out the Seawolves' day with a 65th-place finish was Natalie Widjaja 90+95=185 (+41) and 66th-place Rio Smith 98+89+187 (+43).

Sonoma State will take just under two weeks off before preparing for the CCAA Championship Tournament April 16 and 17 at Sonoma Golf Club in Sonoma, CA.
