Biola suffers an 8-1 loss to old foe Arizona Christian.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Men's Tennis had the chance to make up a rained out match with Arizona Christian at the Biola Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles forced several tight, three-set matches, but ultimately went scoreless in singles en route to an 8-1 loss.

Biola's lone match win came at the No. 1 doubles spot where Lucas Lee and Derek James formed a power pairing to take down the Firestorm's top pair with an 8-6 victory. The Eagles lost the other two doubles flights 8-4 and 8-6.

Once the match moved into singles play Biola lost by straight sets in each of the first three matches to finish in order to allow ACU to claim the victory with a score of 5-1. The other three matches all went into a third set, but since the match was already clinched in favor of the bad guys the three competitive singles flights just played a super tiebreaker.

Each of those tiebreakers was competitive but none as competitive as James' at the No. 2 spot. The sophomore lost his first set, managed a 7-6 win by taking a tiebreaker in the second set and then suffered a heartbreaking 11-9 loss in the super breaker.

James was the second-to-last court to finish on Wednesday, but Joe Turnquist was the Eagle that forced the longest singles match of the day. He had three ultra-competitive sets as he lost the first, 7-5, then pulled a James and won the second 7-6 using a tiebreaker and then suffered an unfortunate 10-5 loss in the superbreaker.

The last Eagle to suffer the superbreaker loss was Logan Blair at No. 5 (3-6; 6-4; 6-10).
