Yotes Split Series Finale With Toros

Games played at Fiscalini Field

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – On Sunday afternoon, due to field conditions in Carson, the Yotes hosted CSU Dominguez Hills for a doubleheader at Fiscalini Field.  The Yotes, who were home statistically, took game one 5-4 in 10 innings, and the Toros, who were home on the scoreboard, took game two 4-1.

David Osuna fired a single through the left side in the top of the 10th in game one as CSUSB went ahead 5-4.  Oscar Rauda (1-1) would finish his second inning in the bottom half securing the win.  The Yotes had jumped ahead 3-0 in the third as Gabe Chavez doubled to plate two and another scored on a groundout.  Shawn Porthan came through with an RBI-single in the fifth for the 4-0 lead.  The Toros tied with two in the eighth and two in the ninth.  

C.J. Blowers had an impressive start for CSUSB, scattering six hits over seven innings with no runs and eight K's.  Chavez doubled twice and had three hits, along with doubles from Richard Castro and Mando Rodriguez who along with Osuna had two hits each.

In game two, the Yotes jumped ahead 1-0 in the fourth on a sac fly but the Toros came back with four in the bottom of the frame.  

Jeff Kross and Noah Simon both pitched well, allowing just a combined three hits and no earned runs.  The Yotes had just three hits as a team.

CSUSB (6-10, 3-8 CCAA) stay south versus south this week, traveling to Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday and Friday and hosting the Broncos on Saturday.  Live links will be CSUSBathletics.com.
