ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – After leading through the first round, the Sonoma State women's golf team returned to Foxtail Golf Course on Tuesday morning and shot a collective 303, en route to a 22-stroke win over runner-up Cal State Monterey Bay. Samantha Oliva bested her round one performance by a single stroke, hitting a par 72 during Tuesday's round two.
Sonoma State dominated the tournament, claiming the top four individual spots and making up two thirds of the all-tournament team. In her top individual performance, Samantha Oliva fired rounds of 72 and 73 in a her one-over-par performance. On her heels were her teammates Jasmine Monas 75+74=149 (+5) who took second, and Sabrina Virtusio 74+77=151 (+7) and Julia Peters 77+74=151 (+7) who tied for third. Rounding out the all-conference team were a pair of Cal State Monterey Bay golfers—Linnea Karlsson and Blake Haverty—who tied for fifth, each shooting 76 in both rounds for an eight-over-par total of 152.
Cristina Picariello just missed a spot in the top-10 with a 77+80=157 (+13) tie for eleventh place, and Karine Oneal jumped 19 places on Tuesday to snag a 20th-place tie 84+76=160 (+16). Lexi Nielsen tied for 50th 81+90=171 (+27) and Alysson Musser shot 87+88=175 (+31) in a tie for 57th. Rounding out the Seawolves' day with a 65th-place finish was Natalie Widjaja 90+95=185 (+41) and 66th-place Rio Smith 98+89+187 (+43).
Sonoma State will take just under two weeks off before preparing for the CCAA Championship Tournament April 16 and 17 at Sonoma Golf Club in Sonoma, CA.

Santa Clara Women’s Golf Cards Program-Best Score Monday At Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. – Santa Clara women's golf carded a program record 286 in the first round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, ending Monday alone in third-place with a 583 total after 36 holes.
The Broncos will enter Tuesday's final round 17 shots behind leader Sacramento State, which blistered the 6,131-yard, par-72 Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club to a 10-under 566. New Mexico State is second, three shots better than the Broncos.
"They played incredible, I'm so proud," head coach Krystal Kelly said of her team. "I was literally jumping for joy."
Just a few days after claiming a third-place finish at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, senior Kristin Le is in the hunt again. Le opened the day with a 3-under 69 and was even-par over the second round, entering the clubhouse alone in second-place at 3-under 141, just one shot behind leader Pun Chanachai of New Mexico State.
Le led the field in par-3 scoring and carded a tournament-best 10 birdies over the first 36 holes.
Senior Kyleigh Moreno eagled the par-5 13th hole in the morning session on her way to a 1-under 71. She carded a second-round 75 and is tied for 16th at 2-over 146. Freshman Emily Sumner matched her career-low with a first-round 71 and ended the day one stroke back of Moreno and six other golfers tied for 23rd at 147.
Freshman Sarah Busey was the only Bronco to have a lower second-round score with a 2-over 74 after an opening 75. Her 149 total puts her in a tie for 34th.
Sophomore Chloe Wong totaled a 153 (76-77) to tie for 60th with teammate Marni Murez, who is competing as an individual.
The old program record of 287 was accomplished twice. The last was here at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in 2016 when the Broncos secured a runner-up finish.

WOMEN'S GOLF SETS SINGLE ROUND RECORD, HOLDS LEAD AT COWGIRL CLASSIC
MARICOPA, Ariz. — Behind a record-breaking first round, the Sacramento State women's golf team jumped to an early lead during the first round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Monday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The Hornets shot 279 in the opening round and followed with a score of 287 in the second round. The team's two-round total of 566 leaves the team 14 strokes ahead of the next closest team headed into the final round on Tuesday.
The 279 placed the team 9-under par during the morning and broke the school record. Sacramento State's previous low of 283 came in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational and the Big Sky Championship in 2016. The Hornets counted a 68 from Corinne Viden, 70s from Astha Madan and Julia Becker and a 71 from Sofie Babic to get to the score. Sacramento State had just five bogeys in those four rounds and finished with 14 birdies.

Women's Golf Defeats Fourth-Ranked Stanford
The women's golf team is 2-0 in match play at SDSU March Mayhem.

RANCHO SANTA FE, California – Another day, another close 3-2 victory at the SDSU March Mayhem event for the Pepperdine women’s golf team, with today’s win coming against fourth-ranked Stanford in match play.
On Monday, the Waves posted a 3-2 win over Baylor before beating the Cardinal by the same score on Tuesday at the par-72 Farms Golf Club.
Hira Naveed won her second match in as many days, while Hannah Haythorne and Momoka Kobori got the other victories.
Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) posted an impressive 3&1 victory against Stanford’s Mika Liu, the nation’s 20th-ranked player. Kobori won the first hole and never trailed, and won on holes 10 and 11 to go four up with four to play.
Naveed (Perth, Australia) defeated Shannon Aubert 3&2. Even after nine holes, Naveed won the next two to seize control of the match. Haythorne (Honolulu, Hawai’i/IMG Academy) recorded the most dramatic victory, beating Kelsey Zeng 1-up. Haythorne led the entire match and earned the Waves the point after the players halved the final two holes.
In Stanford’s wins, Andrea Lee (ranked #4 in the country) defeated Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) 8&7, and Ziyi Wang defeated Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) 5&4.
The Waves are competing in the round-robin portion of the tournament. They will face West Coast Conference rival BYU on Wednesday to complete the event.

Lowest round in program history for Athenas at CMS Invite
CHINO HILLS, Calif. – On the second day of the CMS Invite, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team scored a 300 for the lowest single round score in program history. The tournament was played at Los Serranos Country Club on the North Course from the gold tees. The Athenas won the tournament with a 608, 14 strokes lower than the second place team, Whittier. FreshmanEmma Kang (CMC) posted a 74 in the second round for a 150 overall, good for a tie of individual crown.
CMS held a two stroke lead over Whittier after the first round at 308. All four of the lowest Athenas had scores in the 70s, led by sophomore Mary Bryan Owen (CMC) at 74. Owen showed consistency on the second round to end up with 151 and the second lowest score on the weekend after birdies on back-to-back holes on the front nine.
Contributing to the team score on both days was sophomore Kelly Ransom (CMC) as she improved from a 79 to a 75 on Sunday. Ransom made an impressive 12 pars during her second round. Freshman Eunice Song (CMC) similarly improved from Saturday's round. Her 74 on Sunday tied Kang and Valerie Wang from Pomona-Pitzer for the lowest on the day. Song's back nine on Sunday was 1-under, highlighted by a two on the 121-yard hole 10.
Kang's three birds on Sunday's round led CMS; and two of the three of them were on par fours.
Also playing for the team score were freshman Taylor Hughes (CMC) and junior Cara Brinster (CMC). Hughes dropped nine strokes from the first to second day, ending up with a 79 after birdies on 17 and 18.
Senior Libby Ramsey (CMC), sophomore Nathalie Limandibhratha (CMC) competed as individuals and Ramsey ended up in a tie for ninth at +17 for the tournament.
The Athenas are headed to Prescott, Ariz. for the Embry Riddle Invitational at Talking Rock Country Club Oct. 17-18.

HURRICANE, UTAH – With another phenomenal performance in the tournament's final round, junior Sterling Hawkins posted a career-low, 69 (-3) to take home the individual title at the Dixie State Invitational.
Hawkins led after the first round when she posted an even 72, but improved three strokes in day two to maintain her lead. Overall, she outpaced the competition by three strokes, shooting a 141 in the two-round competition. The win is the first for the San Jose, Calif. native, coming on the heels of an NCAA National Championship berth in the spring of 2016.
Junior Shu-lin Lin came in second for the Urban Knights and tied for 18th overall. The Game Development major shot a 75 on day two (a one-stroke improvement over her day one total). Rounding out the top three was freshman Elan Hawkins. After posting a 75 (+3) in the first round, she shot a 79 (+7) on the final day to place 30th overall.
Academy of Art has had an impressive start to the season which has seen an Urban Knight take home the individual title in back-to-back tournaments. Now, ART U will look to keep their momentum alive when they head to Rohnert Park, Calif. to compete at the Sonoma State Intercollegiate Golf Invitational October 17-18.

No. 6 U of R Women's Golf Ties for Fifth at WMNU Fall Intercollegiate

Junior Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) paced the Maroon and Gray with her sixth-place showing of 146 (74-72) at the Golf Club of Estrella. She recorded 24 pars and five birdies over the two-day event.
Freshman Jasmine Hsu (Fremont, CA) impressed in her Bulldog debut by tying for 13th with a 36-hole tally of 149 (74-75). She hit minus two on the par fives while also knocking in six birdies throughout the tournament.
Senior Kari Gordon (Culver City, CA) stepped up with a total score of 151 (72-79) to enter the clubhouse in a tie for 19th place. She, along with Ordian and Hsu, shot perfectly even on the par-three holes.
Seniors Raquel Gordon (Culver City, CA) and Jenna Durette (Oceanside, CA) also produced quality results with their respective scores of 158 (80-78) and 165 (85-80). In addition, freshman Paige Phillips (Danville, CA) gained experience at her first college tournament with rounds of 86 and 90.
Redlands looks forward to traveling to Portland, OR, for the Culturame Classic at the Reserve Vineyard Golf Club.

Pepperdine Women's Golf Streak Ends With Third-Place Finish

DANVILLE, Calif. – Marissa Chow wrapped up the West Coast Conference Championships with a 3-under 69 on Wednesday, highlighting the Pepperdine women’s golf team’s efforts, but the Waves saw their streak of league titles come to an end with a third-place finish.
The Waves had won 14 in a row coming into the 2016 competition, but BYU entered as the favorite this year and captured its first WCC title with a three-day total of 884. Gonzaga came in second at 887 and the Waves were third at 892 (293-301-298) at the par-72 Blackhawk Country Club. Pepperdine has won 17 of the 20 WCC Championships ever contested.

UCLA: Law Sets School Record During Round 1
TEMPE, Ariz. - Junior Bronte Law
had an historic trip around the ASU Karsten Golf Course on Friday,
posting an 8-under 64 to tally the lowest round in the history of UCLA
women's golf. Law also set a course record to help the Bruins to a
six-shot lead through 18 holes. UCLA shot 7-under as a team and is half a
dozen strokes up on Arizona State and UNLV.
Law was on fire from the very start, making birdies on her first two holes, as well as #4 and #8. She started the back nine with three straight birdies, adding another on the 14th and one on the 16th to put her at 9-under. Law bogeyed #17, but would finish with a 64 to better her career high by one stroke, which was also the previous single-round best. Seven other players, including Law in 2013, had shot a 65 for the Bruins.
Freshman Lilia Vu is in second place, four shots back of Law, after firing a 4-under 68. She made four birdies on the front side on #1, #3, #5 and #6 to go with a bogey on the fourth. Vu gained three more strokes on #10, #12 and #14 to get to 6-under before losing shots on #16 and #18. Senior Louise Ridderström is tied for eighth at 1-under (71). She made birdies on the fifth and the ninth before dropping her only shot on #18.
Junior Hadas Libman is tied for 55th after shooting +6 (78). Her lone birdie was on the 14th, as she made seven bogeys. Sophomore Lydia Choi shot a non-team scoring 80 (+8), making five bogeys and a triple. Sophomore Erin Choi, playing as an individual, started on the back nine and made six bogeys, but came back to birdie the seventh and the eighth to finish at 4-over (76) and in a tie for 40th.

Santa Clara University: Freman Wins Individual Title, Le Second At Cowgirl Classic

Freman matched her own 18-hole program record with a final round 5-under 67 to win her fifth career individual title by seven shots over teammate Kristin Le, who ended the event at 2-under 214. Freman extended her own program record for career titles.
"It's hard to put into words," head coach Krystal Kelly said of Freman. "Annie played so well today. She was steady. She hit a bunch of greens and made six birdies. It was fun watching her play."
Freman posted a tournament-best 15 birdies to break the previous 54-hole program record of 209,

individual titles after capturing the Fresno State Classic on Tuesday
with a tournament 36-hole record 8-under 136. As a team the Broncos took
fourth-place with a 592 (+16) total at the rain-shortened event.
After navigating the 6,217-yard, par-72 San Joaquin Country Club to a program-record 5-under 67 in Monday's first round, Freman followed with a 3-under 69 on Tuesday, holding off Fresno State's Gudrun Bjorgvinsdottir and Boise State's Genevieve Ling, who tied for second at 5-under 139.
"Annie played great this week," head coach Krystal Kelly said. "She made 10 birdies and tee to green, she was very solid."
The event was shortened to 36 holes after rain delayed the start of play on Monday.
Freman joins Ashley Noda, winner at the Santa Clara Colby Invitational in October, and Kristin Le, Battle at the Rock winner two weeks ago, as Broncos to top the field in 2015-16 events. Freman's fourth career title also breaks a tie with Miki Ueoka, who claimed three wins during her career that ended in 2011.
Freshman Cynthia Navis did her best to lift Santa Clara to a third straight team title. Her career-low 74 on Tuesday was the next lowest score among all Broncos, however it wasn't enough. Tournament host Fresno State was an eight-shot winner over runner-up Boise State with a 577 total.
Santa Clara beat two teams ranked higher in the golfstat.com poll, including No. 95 Nevada and No. 82 New Mexico State. "This is the first time we've beaten New Mexico State in a few years," Kelly said about her 100th ranked Broncos.
"Overall, it was another great finish for the team," Kelly added. "Our scoring is becoming more consistent. I'm looking forward to seeing what the squad can do in the next few weeks."
Navis and Noda tied for 41st place at 9-over 153, while Le and Monique Riley tied for 50th at 155 (+11). Competing as an individual, Meghan Shain scored rounds of 78 and 79 to finish at 13-over 157, tied for 57th.
The Broncos are back in action at the Sacramento State Invitational scheduled to begin on Monday, March 21.

Pepperdine University's Chow Posts Top-10 Finish at Bay Area Intercollegiate

tied for eighth place at the rain-shortened Bay Area Intercollegiate on
Tuesday, highlighting the Pepperdine women’s golf team’s participation
in the event.
Bad weather forced Monday to go from 36 to 18 holes, and play wrapped up with the final round at the par-72 Meadow Club today. Pepperdine finished in 11th place with a score of 603 (307-296).
Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani HS), a senior two-time All-American, picked up her 16th career top-10 and 23rd career top-20 finishes (both of which rank eighth all-time at Pepperdine). She posted three birdies in her final four holes on Tuesday to climb the leaderboard at end with a 2-over 146 (73-73).
Sophomore Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) tied for 32nd at 152 (77-75), sophomore Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) tied for 39th at 153 (77-76), freshman Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) tied for 45th at 154 (80-74) and freshman Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) tied for 52nd at 156 (82-74). Naveed had an eagle on the par-5 first hole.
Pepperdine next plays at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawaii on March 22-23.

She posted three birdies in her final four holes on Tuesday to climb the leaderboard at end with a 2-over 146 (73-73).
Sophomore Katherine Zhu (Vancouver, B.C.) tied for 32nd at 152 (77-75), sophomore Tatiana Wijaya (Jakarta, Indonesia) tied for 39th at 153 (77-76), freshman Hira Naveed (Perth, Australia) tied for 45th at 154 (80-74) and freshman Patricia Wong (Walnut, Calif./Walnut HS) tied for 52nd at 156 (82-74). Naveed had an eagle on the par-5 first hole.
Pepperdine next plays at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawaii on March 22-23.

Chow Three Strokes Off Lead at Bay Area Intercollegiate
FAIRFAX, Calif. – A rain-shortened first day of play at the Bay Area Intercollegiate left the Pepperdine women’s golf team in 10th place and Marissa Chow just three strokes off the individual lead.
With rain delaying play all day, the competition was shortened to 36 holes as team completed one round on Monday. Pepperdine shot a 307 to sit 12 strokes back of the lead.

junior Annie Freman from taking the first-round lead after firing a program-record round of 5-under 67.
Freman posted six birdies on the day to best Miki Ueoka's program record of 68, which was set at the same event on Feb. 23, 2009.
Senior Ashley Noda scored a 2-over 74 to tie for 12th and sophomore Kristin Le is a shot back tied for 19th following a 3-over 75.
With a 7-over 295 on Monday, the Broncos need to make up nine strokes in Tuesday's final round to capture their third consecutive team title. Tournament host Fresno State set the pace with a 2-under 286 followed by Boise State at 5-over 293.
Freshman Cynthia Navis carded a 79 and senior Monique Riley shot an 80. Playing as an individual, senior Meghan Shain carded a 6-over 78.
Final round action is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. PT at the 6,217-yard, par-72 San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif.
