CHICO, Calif. (March 8th, 2019) – The No. 19 CSUSB Coyotes split day
one at No. 6 Chico State on Friday, taking game two 4-3 after falling
1-2 in game one.
In game one Amanda Ramirez threw a no-hitter though five innings, but an earned run and unearned run came across to score in the sixth for Chico State. Sydney Kreimann drove in the single CSUSB run with a single to short in the first. Ramirez
tallied three K's on the day with just one walk. The Yotes did have
chances as they were able to draw four walks in the game and stole two
bases.
In game two, the Yotes responded after the Wildcats scored three runs in the second inning to get the comeback win. After scoring in the fourth, Jamiana Gateb singled home a run before the inning was out. The tying run scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Haley Finn brought the winning run home with a single in the seventh.
"Our team showed a lot of fight today and really battled to split the day," head coach Dee Payan said. "Amanda and Anissa threw well for us in the circle and their performances kept us in the game to put some runs on the board. We're looking to carry forward this momentum to tomorrow."
Dominique Walker had two hits, including a triple, and Kianna Abellera had a pinch-hit triple. The Yotes spread seven hits among six players and Anissa Padilla (2-0) earned the win after posting four-and-a-third innings of no-hit pitching. Amanda Ramirez earned the save working around a walk.
