By Mark Reinhiller, California State University San Bernardino Associate AD/Media Relations
SAN BERNARDINO (March 29, 2018) — CSUSB had no answer for Stanislaus State ace Joe Ryan, who struck out 15 Coyotes and dealt a 16-0 defeat in Thursday's CCAA series opener at Fiscalini Field.

The records
CSUSB dropped to 9-18 overall and 9-12 in the CCAA. Stanislaus State improved to 16-13, 12-11.

All about Ryan
The San Anselmo native's strikeout total is the most by a Warrior in the CCAA era. He threw 114 pitches, gave up six hits, did not issue a walk, and improved to 6-1. Not one Coyote reached past second base for the game.

For the Coyotes
Ty Lineberger and Jason Nall each had two hits. Nall and Mando Rodriguez each doubled.

Going yard
The Warriors had four home runs — one each by Nikko Delgado, Michael Wyatt, Jack Large and Austin Fitzpatrick, who had a grand slam in the fourth.

On the mound
Freshman LHP Ryan Rutherford had five strikeouts in 3.1 innings. He took the loss after giving up seven runs — all earned.
