Freshman midfielder Jose Hernandez
(Mexico City, Mexico) of the UCLA men’s soccer team was named the
UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Hernandez started both games on the road trip and scored two goals in
the Bruin victory over No. 15 Washington on Sunday night. Hernandez
scored his first goal on a penalty kick and rebounded his second penalty
kick attempt for his second goal of the game to win it in the 107th
minute. Hernandez now leads all Pac-12 freshmen in points (11) and is
second on the team in points and goals (5). His second goal against
Washington marks the second time this season Hernandez has delivered the
winning goal in overtime for UCLA. The win also moves the Bruins’
record to 5-0-1 in their last six meetings with Washington.
This is Hernandez’s first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and his career.
