POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona Baseball team returns home for a four-game series at Scolinso Field as they host Sonoma State in California Collegiate Athletic Association play beginning Thursday.

Last Week: The Broncos (15-11, 12-8) won their second straight series, defeating San Francisco State 3-1. CPP won their first game 8-2, the second game 14-7 and the third game 5-2, before dropping the final game of the series 9-5. The Bronco offense came to life in the series as they scored at least five runs in all four games against the Gators. Nic Hernandez led the Broncos at the plate as he went 7-for-15 with two homeruns and six runs batted in. Austin Isenhart pitched well for the Broncos after a rough couple of starts as he tossed seven shutout innings while striking out six batters.
By the Numbers: As a team, their batting average is .309 which is leads CCAA. As a pitching staff, their ERA is 3.71 which is third in the conference. The offense is starting to come on midway through the season as CPP comes in winning seven of their last eight games. Cesar Lopez leads the team with a .382 batting average. Ryan Alsworth leads all starters with a 1.86 ERA. Last year against Sonoma, Pomona swept the 3-game series while only allowing three runs in the series.
Seawolves Report: Sonoma (13-12, 9-10) finds themselves in the middle of the pack in the CCAA. Their .249 batting average is last in the conference. They struggle driving in runs as they are second to last in the CCAA with 112. However, they are third in the conference in hitting the long ball with 18 homeruns as a team. Their team ERA is .4.79 and they allowed 217 hits. Zach Guardino leads the team with a .339 batting average and five doubles.
