Wells Fargo Bank Teams Up with FOX Sport West and Los Angeles Kings to Score Big for Local Schools

$1K to be Donated for Every Goal by Kings to Mayor’s Partnership for LA Schools
Los Angeles, California - Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC), one of America’s leading community banks, announced on February 15th it is teaming up with FOX Sports West, Partnership for Los Angeles Schools and the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings to donate $1,000 for every goal scored by the Kings in the 2013 season, to raise awareness and support technology in classrooms.

“Thanks to Wells Fargo and Fox Sports West, the excitement of Kings Hockey has been merged with improving education for some of Los Angeles' neediest students,” said Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.  “This blend of philanthropy and sports will ultimately bring new technologies and online learning to the students at the Partnership for LA Schools. This is an exciting moment for LA’s kids and sports fans alike.”

Funds raised will help bring technology to the Partnership’s nearly 16,000 students in 22 schools, providing them a digital learning experience.  One of the Partnership’s core instructional strategies is implementing online learning programs to support teachers who need to reach students of varying levels within the same classroom.  Through this approach, the Partnership seeks to improve student outcomes in Math, English and in the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) through the use of various software programs.

“As the United States continues to compete in a global, 21st century economy, we have to make sure our kids have access to the tools necessary to compete,” said John Sotoodeh, Wells Fargo’s Community Banking regional president.  “As Los Angeles’ top corporate philanthropist, we support education through both philanthropic giving and team member volunteerism, and this partnership is a great way to help build awareness for a worthy cause.”

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Wells Fargo, the Partnership for LA Schools and the Kings to help raise funds for technology based learning," said Steve Simpson, senior vice president and general manager, FOX Sports West and Prime Ticket. "As FOX Sports West continues its mission to assist local schools, it's these generous contributions that will help to further support the youth of our community."
