Country Artist Jamie Lynn Spears Performs Free Concert Aboard Battleship Iowa

San Pedro, California - Twenty two year old Actress turned Country Singer Jamie Lynn Spears looked great in black top, leather jacket, pants and red high heels as she performed a free Concert on the Battleship Iowa on April 2, 2014 in San Pedro, California.

Jamie Lynn Marie Spears born April 4, 1991 is an American actress, singer, and the younger sister of recording artist Britney Spears. In 2005, she came to prominence after being cast in the Nickelodeon/Family television series Zoey 101, where she portrayed the titular character Zoey Brooks. In 2007, sixteen-year-old Spears generated controversy after announcing her pregnancy. She gave birth to daughter Maddie Aldridge the following year, effectively sending her career into hiatus. In 2013, Spears relaunched her career as a country music recording artist, and released her debut single "How Could I Want More".

Hollywood Stars, WWII Veterans Join Battleship IOWA to Launch Year of American Spirit on President's Day

Los Angeles, California - Hollywood stars Rhonda Fleming and Tippi Hedren will join WWII veterans on the deck  of the historic USS IOWA to kick of yearlong campaign to reignite the spirit of America this Monday, February 18.

We are proud to be kicking off our mission to celebrate the American Spirit and honor all those who contribute to making America the great country it is, said Jonathan Williams, Battleship Iowa president and COO. We look forward to having the public join us throughout this coming year as we continue to grow and expand our efforts.

The press conference will be held at 2:00 pm in front of a 6 ft Seward Johnson sculpture Unconditional Surrender depicting the famous Times Square Kiss that has been installed in front of the battleship.

Among the guests will be Hollywood star Rhonda Fleming who was a supporter of the Navy throughout her film career. Her husdand, Darol Carlson, Darol Carlson, served in the USS Navy during WWII, and was stationed in San Pedro.

Actress Tippi Hedren, many remember from her performance in Hitchcock's The Bird's will also attend to support the Iowa's mission. Hedren's father served in the Navy during WWII.

Representing WWII veterans will be Jerry Yellin, who flew the last combat mission of WWII on August 14, 1945. Yellin is a national spokesman for Spirit of 45 Day which honors the men and women who were the ordinary heroes of WWII.

Ms. Nell Calloway, the grand daughter of General Claire Chennault, who formed the legendary Flying Tigers that fought during the war in China will also be attending.

The USS Iowa served in WWII, the Korean War is known as the Battleship of Presidents having transported US President Franklin Roosevelt to the Tehran Conference and later Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.   The ship was commissioned in February 1943, and will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year with a series of events in cooperation with the Queen Mary and other organizations.  The USS Iowa is berthed at 250 South Harbor Boulevard, San Pedro, 90731.

BATTLESHIP IOWA AND PPG PMC BUSINESS RECOGNIZED WITH SSPC MILITARY COATINGS PROJECT AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

Restoration of historic battleship earns top honors with 2013 award

Los Angeles, California - PPG Industries protective and marine coatings (PMC) business received the 2013 Military Coatings Project Award of Excellence from The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) during their 2013 trade show for work with the Battleship IOWA.

The award is given annually by SSPC to recognize exceptional coatings work performed on U.S. military ships, structures or facilities. Bay Ship & Yacht repainted the exterior of the historic Battleship IOWA using PPG PSX ONE coating, a one-component acrylic-siloxame coating introduced by PPG PMC business. Bay Ship & Yacht did all the repainting using PPG paints to meet the very tight timeframe in Richmond, CA to ready The Battleship of Presidents for its relocation.

The Battleship IOWA, which was originally commissioned in 1943 and served in the Atlantic and Pacific fleets during World War II. Nearly 900 gallons of PSX ONE coating, in standard naval Haze Gray as well as black, red, white and blue, were applied to the exterior surfaces of the 887-foot-long battleship to ready for its permanent installation at the L.A. Waterfront.

The Battleship IOWA is operated by the nonprofit Pacific Battleship Center (PBC). Opened on July 7, 2012 as an interactive naval museum at the L.A. Waterfront dedicated to Celebrating the American Spirit through the preservation and interpretation of the Battleship IOWA. To share the accomplishments and sacrifices of American patriots and to engage visitors in unique and exciting ways that bring the ship to life by connecting the past with the future is the goal of the PBC.
