U.S. Figure Skating announced the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 Team Event participants for the pairs free skate, free dance and women's free skate on Sunday evening. The team event is set for Feb. 4-7 at Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing.
Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazie will compete in the pairs free skate. The 2021 U.S. champions finished third in the team event short program on Friday, scoring an international-best 75.00 points and notching eight points for Team USA.
Three-time U.S. champions and two-time World medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bate will make their team event debut in the free dance on Monday morning, substituting for Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohu. Chock is a three-time Olympian, while Bates is the first U.S. figure skater to compete in four Olympic Winter Games (also competed in 2010 with former partner Emily Samuelson).
Two-time Olympian Karen Che will close the competition in the women's free skate. Chen placed fifth in the short program with 65.20 points to secure six points for the United States.
The pairs free skate will kick off the day's competition on Monday, Feb. 7, at 9:15 a.m. (Sunday, Feb. 6 at 8:15 p.m. ET), followed by the free dance and women's free skate. Heading into the final day of competition, the United States is in second place with 42 points. The Russian Olympic Committee leads with 45 points and Japan is in third place with 39 points.
