ATHERTON, Calif. – The Master’s University women’s soccer team
battled to a scoreless double-overtime draw Thursday afternoon against
the UC Merced Bobcats on the campus of Menlo College in Atherton.
With the tie, TMU’s record moves to 0-1-1.
“We
pushed well the second half and created some decent opportunities,”
commented head coach Curtis Lewis. “We are still making some silly
mistakes that we have to correct, but it will come. We need to
capitalize on the things we are given and we need to be able to create
even more real chances.”
Of TMU’s 13 shots and eight shots on goal, Sierra Carrasco
(Riverside, CA) paced the Lady Mustangs’ offense with three shots and
two shots on goal. Jessica Zubia (Bakersfield, CA) anchored TMU’s
defense by grabbing four saves over 110 minutes.
“Today was a step in the right direction,” further assessed Lewis.
“Now, we just need to finish the ball. We will continue moving forward
and searching for our first goal.”
Hungry for their first victory, and goal, of the 2016 campaign, the
Lady Mustangs will return to action on Saturday when they battle No. 23
Carroll College on the campus of Menlo College in Atherton at 11:00 a.m.
