WHITE ELEPHANT SALE ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR MARCH 2-3 SALE
Donations of Gently Used Items Still Needed
Sale Proceeds Benefit Oakland Museum of California

(OAKLAND, CA)-Northern California's biggest and best rummage sale seeks donations for its 54th annual White Elephant Sale, to be held on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, 2013.During February, donations of gently used, good quality items can be dropped off at 333 Lancaster Street in Oakland, Tuesdays through Saturdays, and on Monday, February 18. Donation hours are 10 am to 2 pm. Free van pick-up is also available by calling 510-839-5919. The last public donation day is February 23. Organized and presented by the Oakland Museum Women's Board, the White Elephant Salewill take place on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3. Hours are 10 am to 4 pm both days and admission is free. First-time shoppers areadvised to arrive early, wear comfortable shoes, and use the free shuttle service fromthe Fruitvale BART to the Sale warehouse.

Held in a 96,000-square-foot warehouse at 333 Lancaster Street, near the Oakland Estuary, the legendary White Elephant Sale has something for everyone, featuring an extensive offering of quality used men, women's and children's clothing, jewelry, books, tools, furniture, household goods, sporting equipment and more. Made possible by donations from the public, Sale proceeds benefit the Oakland Museum of California.

The Oakland Museum Women's Board, a dedicated group of more than 100 year-round volunteers, has contributed over $18 million to support the Museum acquisitions, exhibitions, educational programs, capital improvements, and more since 1959. The White Elephant Sale is the primary fundraising event of the Oakland Museum Women's Board. Held annually during the first weekend in March, the White Elephant Sale attracts a corps of over 1,000 volunteers from around the Bay Area.

VISITOR INFORMATION 
The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) is at 1000 Oak Street, at 10th Street, in Oakland. OMCA is situated between downtown Oakland and Lake Merritt. Museum admission is $12 general; $9 seniors and students with valid ID, $6 youth ages 9 to 17, and free for Members and children 8 and under. OMCA offers onsite underground parking and is conveniently located one block from the Lake Merritt BART station, on the corner of 10th Street and Oak Street.
