Kid Rock! 140 Pint-Sized Rock Bands to Invade the Sunset Strip on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at RockSTAR’s 2nd Annual Winter RockFest

West Hollywood, California - The RockSTAR Music Education program and the City of West Hollywood will present a full day of “kid rock” on the Sunset Strip on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at RockSTAR’s 2nd Annual Winter Rockfest. More than 4,000 people and 140 elementary school-aged bands are expected to descend upon the Key Club, 9039 W. Sunset Boulevard; The Roxy Theatre, 9009 W. Sunset Boulevard; and the Whisky A Go-Go, 8901 W. Sunset Boulevard in a celebration of young musicianship, music education, and rock and roll.

Band members performing at RockFest range in age from 6 to 12 years old, and come from across Los Angeles County, including several elementary schools in the West Hollywood area. The event will also feature a raffle for rock and roll memorabilia, including a guitar signed by the Grammy-winning band Green Day.

RockSTAR, a STAR Education program, was founded eight years ago with the fundamental mission of bringing music back into schools that had slashed their own music programs because of budget cuts. With celebrity support from such rock icons as The Black Keys, Slash, Santana, Britney Spears, Taylor Dayne, DMC, Chris Slade of AC/DC, Gene Simmons, Sammy Hagar and more, this is the most established and effective after-school music program in California. By harnessing the cognitive, social and creative benefits of music education, RockSTAR allows children to learn, live large, let loose, hone music skills, practice teamwork, and develop a sense of professionalism.

Tickets for each club are $12, and will be available day-of-show, as well as in advance at www.rockstarmusiceducation.org The band lineups for each club are also available on the website.
