Honor choirs perform Sunday
Enjoy a choral concert featuring some of the finest young singers from middle schools and high schools in the region. The California Music Educators Association (CMEA) Capitol Section Honor Choirs present their annual concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Fremont Presbyterian church, 5770 Carlson Drive.
Produced by Sacramento State Music Professor Donald Kendrick, the program features master teachers conducting choirs comprising 150 students from 17 area schools in several counties.
Michael Hayden, director of choirs at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, is the guest conductor for the High School Choir; and Craig Bond, past director of the Vocal Music Program for the St. Helena Unified School District, is the guest conductor for the Middle School Choir.
Their singers are gathering for a series of intense rehearsals to prepare for the event, sponsored by the CMEA.
Tickets are available only at the door and the suggested donation is $10 general admission. For more information, call (916) 278-6805.
