Broadway's Biggest Blockbuster Returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts February 20 - March 17
COSTA MESA, CA – After breaking box office records in 2006 and 2011, WICKED, Broadway’s biggest blockbuster returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts February 20 – March 17. The 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, February 23 will include audio description, open captioning and sign-language interpretation. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Academy Award® winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman (“My So Called Life,” “Once And Again” and “thirtysomething”), WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is directed by two-time Tony Award® winner Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Vagina Monologues) and features musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento (Aida, The Who’s Tommy, How To Succeed…).
Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED, winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy® and three Tony Awards, is the untold story of the witches of Oz. It is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. “The return of WICKED to Segerstrom Center for the Arts has generated a great deal of excitement,” said Terrence W. Dwyer, president of Segerstrom Center for the Arts. “The broad appeal of this beloved Broadway musical attracts a tremendously enthusiastic audience. One – born with emerald-green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other – is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

Dee Roscioli (Elphaba) is thrilled to return to the first National Tour of WICKED. Roscioli played the role
of Elphaba on Broadway after closing the record-breaking Chicago production and performing the role in
cities across the US. She holds the distinction of having played Elphaba in more performances than any
other actress. Her cabaret, Decidedly Dee, sold out in New York and Chicago. Additional NY credits
include The 24-Hour Musicals, Murder Ballad (Workshops at NYS&F and MTC), Dedalus Lounge (Interart Theater Annex) and Therapy Rocks (NYMF). National Tour: Cats (Grizabella).
Patti Murin (Glinda) is absolutely thrilled to travel all over the country by bubble! She was last seen in
NYC playing the title role in the critically acclaimed Broadway musical Lysistrata Jones. Other favorite
credits: Xanadu on Broadway (Euterpe/Kira u/s), the title roles in Jane Austen’s Emma (Old Globe
Theatre) and The Little Mermaid (The MUNY) and Roxie in Chicago (The MUNY). TV: “Royal Pains.”

Kim Zimmer (Madame Morrible) is best known as Reva Shayne on “Guiding Light” where she received
four Lead Actress Emmy Awards along with 11 nominations. Her regional and off-Broadway credits
include Four Dogs And A Bone; Love, Loss, And What I Wore; Blood Brothers; Gypsy; Sunset Boulevard;
Dirty Blonde; Curtains and Shirley Valentine to name a few. TV credits include “Seinfeld,” “Designing
Women,” “Models, Inc.” and “MacGyver.” Zimmer’s experience in daytime TV spans 32 years and her
best-selling memoir I’m Just Sayin! is now available in paperback.
Tom McGowan (The Wizard). After recently playing The Wizard on Broadway, McGowan is thrilled to be
