United States’ Jagger Eaton Takes Men's First Street Bronze as Skateboarding Makes Olympic Debut
Tokyo, Japan (July 25, 2021) — History was made today at Tokyo’s Ariake Park with the debut of skateboarding in the 2020 Olympic Games, and Arizona’s Jagger Eaton bringing home the first Olympic medal for the United States. Eaton was the first skater in the first heat to drop in at today’s semi-finals and maintained his lead throughout all four heats. Eaton posted a final round score of 35.35, 0.8 behind the 36.15 points by Brazil’s Kelvin Hoefler. Yuto Horigome of Japan gave the host nation the honor of winning the first gold medal presented in the sport by scoring 37.18.

TOKYO, July 25, 2021 - The U.S. women's artistic gymnastics team comprised of Simone Biles of Spring, Texas, Jordan Chiles of Vancouver, Wash., Sunisa Lee of St. Paul, Minn., and Grace McCallum of Isanti, Minn. has advanced to the Tokyo Olympic team competition final based on their performances Sunday at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre. The U.S. team (170.562) qualified in second place behind the Russian Olympic Committee (171.629). The final is set for Tuesday, July 27 at 6:45 a.m. ET.

Improving to an undefeated 3-0 record through Day 3 of the opening round, Olympians Cat Osterman (Houston, Texas) and Monica Abbott (Salinas, Calif.) combined for the shutout win in the circle. Osterman took care of business through the first six innings, retiring the last 15 batters she faced in order while Abbott closed out the win in the bottom of the seventh.
