Colorado Springs, Colorado (June 30, 2021) – On the heels of the just-completed Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals, where Force 10 3x3 won the women’s national championship and 3BALL Omaha captured the men’s title, a new season of Red Bull 3X kicks off with 20 qualifiers around the country, starting with a July 10 doubleheader in Raleigh, North Carolina and Columbus, Ohio.
The new season starts just ahead of 3x3 basketball shining as a first-time discipline on the brightest stage of all this summer, highlighted by the USA 3x3 Women’s National Team competing against the world’s best. Here in the states, Red Bull 3X is an event series in partnership with USA Basketball to build an elite pathway for men’s and women’s players who have a goal of competing at the highest levels of 3x3 basketball.
“I’m really looking forward to playing in the 3x3 event series this summer,” said Cierra Burdick, MVP of the Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals for Force 10 3x3, the first independently owned professional women’s 3x3 team in the U.S. “I obviously love playing 3x3, but there’s also a bigger purpose behind the games and the tournaments. Our goal is to create more opportunities for women to play, and the Red Bull 3X series is a great avenue to push that forward. It should be a really exciting and competitive summer.” Through the 20 qualifying tournaments of Red Bull 3X, players compete to accumulate enough individual FIBA points with the goal of moving on to the Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Regionals in the Fall of 2021, and then to the 2022 Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals, which will be used to identify a new pipeline of talent for USA 3x3 men’s and women’s national teams. Interested players can head to www.redbull.com/3X for more information and to register.
The Red Bull 3X qualifiers, Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals and all FIBA 3x3 competitions are played on a half court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock, where the winner is the first team to 21 points or the team in the lead at the end of the 10-minute regulation.
“Red Bull 3X has been a big part of growing the game of 3x3 hoops in the U.S., and this season’s series will be more competitive than ever,” said Robbie Hummel, 2019 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year and MVP of the 2019 Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals. “I plan to play and encourage elite players to register for the 20 qualifiers going down starting this summer.”
Red Bull is the official energy drink of USA Basketball and will support the USA Basketball Men’s and Women’s National Teams. |
