Silicon Valley startup Aqaix, a leader in providing cloud-based software products to accelerate adoption of digital technologies by the water industry, has joined SWAN (Smart Water Networks Forum) to facilitate services to the water sector globally. Through membership in SWAN, the leading global hub for the smart water/wastewater sector, Aqaix gains capacity to anticipate the digital needs of the water industry and engage on using Aqaix’ cutting-edge data integration technology.
“SWAN gives us a single point of contact within the global community of utilities,” said Aqaix CEO Michael Gardner. “That allows us to quickly grasp how to help them design a roadmap for digitization and Digital Twin implementation as well as use data to improve engagement with customers.” (Digital Twin provides a virtual representation of a water plant or system, which helps optimize operation, saving money and improving water quality.)
Commenting on the Aqaix membership news, Amir Cahn, SWAN’s Executive Director remarked:
“We’re thrilled to officially welcome Aqaix to our growing network and look forward to their active contribution. Michael Gardner and his team of industry experts are digital and financial thought leaders that can play a significant role in the smart water sector.”
Aqaix offers utilities a water data integration hub as a central point to access water data of all types, enabling utilities to rapidly deploy monitoring, decision, and other systems based on disparate sources of data. The Aqaix services team is expert at planning, designing, and implementing APIs (Application Programming Interface) for data integration, monetization, and enterprise digitization. The team can assist with RESTful APIs, SOAP/WSDL integration, OAuth 2.0 integration, JSON, Swagger, and other implementation tools and technologies.
“Utilities understand they must adopt smart data-driven solutions to deal with the challenges of the future,” Aqaix CEO Gardner said. “But they usually need help with mapping out and implementing specific digital strategies, and with integrating data from various sources. Aqaix brings Silicon Valley know-how to the complexities of data – like overcoming the barriers to sharing siloed data and integrating data to attain actual value and ROI from it. Many organizations spend money on data but don’t know how to get ROI on that spending.”
“There are huge opportunities for AI and data science in water operations,” Gardner continued. But the data itself is not enough. You have to solve your data integration and preparation challenges first. Otherwise, your data science projects will fail.”
The Aqaix team has been on the ground floor of sweeping innovations, including the accelerating use of Big Data, Cloud, and the advent of highly scaled open source technologies. Among other pioneering accomplishments, Aqaix team members helped build and run eBay search technology and the Apigee API cloud for data routing and management, and ran a data integration program for BNY Mellon, a major global investment bank.
“We have high expectations for our collaboration with SWAN,” Gardner said. “The partnership will facilitate our strong trajectory of providing utilities with the products and services they need to use digital technologies to meet the challenges of the future.”
