No. 4 Bruins Blank No. 16 Tulane

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- No. 4 UCLA (5-3) posted its second sweep of the season with a 5-0 win over No. 16 Tulane (10-4) on Wednesday morning at the FAU Beach Volleyball Complex on the campus of Florida Atlantic.

The Bruins claimed the first point on court one when the freshman pair of Nicole McNamara and Megan McNamara defeated Tulane's Tea Juric/Jackie Wegner in straight-sets, 21-10, 21-7.

UCLA went up 2-0 on court five after junior Laurel Weaver and senior Julie Consani defeated the Green Waves' Anna Chin/Briana Correa in straight sets, 21-11, 21-14.

Court three was the decisive victory for UCLA when the Bruins clinched the match going up 3-0 as senior Kamila Tan and sophomore Ivey Schmitt defeated the Tulane tandem of Christina McAfee and Miah Diirell in straight sets, 21-18, 21-11.

UCLA's duo of sophomore Reily Buechler and freshman Zana Muno made it 4-0 on court four with a straight-set win over Sarah Strasner/Hannah Holmes, 21-16, 21-14.

The Bruins completed the sweep with a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles when UCLA's pair of sophomore Elise Zappia and freshman Izzy Carey rallied to defeat Tulane's Lan Nguyen and Madeline Mertz, 19-21, 21-16, 15-10.

The Bruins return to action later today when they face No. 17 Florida Atlantic at 11:00 a.m. PT.
