Secretary Kerry is on foreign travel to Geneva, Switzerland to attend meetings to discuss matters concerning Syria, including the use of chemical weapons and steps to address these developments.

Assistant Secretary Fernandez is on foreign travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil through September 12 to participate in the third U.S.-Brazil Innovation Summit at the headquarters of Brazil’s National Bank for Economic and Social Development.

ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR WESTERN HEMISPHERE AFFAIRS ROBERTA JACOBSON3:00 p.m. Assistant Secretary Jacobson attends the swearing-in ceremony for the U.S. Ambassador-designate to Brazil Liliana Ayalde, at the Department of State.

ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR OCEANS AND INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL AND SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS KERRI-ANN JONES10:30 a.m. Assistant Secretary Jones presents to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology with the Deputy Under Secretary for USDA's Research, Education, and Economics Ann Bartuska, the Associate Director for Natural Resources, Energy, and Science, Office of Management and Budget Sally Ericsson, and the Acting Director for the U.S. Geological Survey Suzette Kimball, at National Academy of Sciences.
2:00 p.m. Assistant Secretary Jones meets with the President of the Max Planck Society Dr. Peter Gruss, at the Department of State.
3:30 p.m. Assistant Secretary Jones participates in a briefing on the implementation of the Executive Order Combating Wildlife Trafficking with the Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Dan Ashe and the Department of Justice Acting Assistant Attorney General Robert Dreher, at the Rayburn House Office Building.
7:00 p.m. Assistant Secretary Jones attends a dinner with EU Environmental Commission Representatives, in Washington, DC.

Acting Assistant Secretary Paul Jones accompanies Secretary Kerry on foreign travel.

ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR EAST ASIAN AND PACIFIC AFFAIRS DANNY RUSSEL
Assistant Secretary Russel is on foreign travel to the Republic of Korea, Japan, Brunei, Indonesia, and China from September 5 through 14.

OFFICE OF GLOBAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE AMBASSADOR-AT-LARGE-STEPHEN RAPP
Ambassador Rapp is on foreign travel to Juba, South Sudan, to attend a conference called “The Inauguration of the National Committee on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crimes of Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity and all forms of Discrimination in the Republic of South Sudan.”
