Coast Guard responds to aground vessel Pacifica, Calif.

SAN FRANCISCO — Coast Guard crews from Station Golden Gate and Air Station San Francisco responded to a sailboat aground near Pacifica, Calif., today.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco command center received a call at approximately 5:25 a.m., from Pacifica Dispatch operators of the aground 82-foot sailing vessel Darling.

A 47-foot Motor Life boat crew from Coast Guard Station Golden Gate responded to the scene but was unable to reach the vessel due to its location in the surf.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station San Francisco also responded and lowered a radio to the vessel occupants to establish communications.

The sailing vessel had three people aboard who reported no injuries. They were removed by members of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

There are no signs of pollution at this time. The vessel owner is working to have the vessel removed from the beach.
