Sports: Lancers End Road Trip With 3-0 Shutout Over Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER ---
California Baptist University produced its first shutout of the season on Sunday, as the Lancers closed out the East Coast road trip with a 3-0 victory over Merrimack.

The Lancers picked up from where they left off after Thursday's 4-1 victory over

Bryant with another dominant performance. CBU controlled nearly the entire 90 minutes of the match, outshooting the Warriors, 15-7, with seven of the 15 shots being on target. With the win, CBU improves to 2-1 on the season while Merrimack falls to 1-2-1.

Morgan Witz put the Lancers on top in the 21st minute after a nice pass from Ari Coronado set her up for what would be the game-winner.

Lauryn White followed up Witz's opening goal with a goal of her own nine minutes later to extend the Lancers' lead. Marcella Brooks was in on the assist for the Lancers – her first of the season.

Faith Lee sealed the game for the Lancers in the 44th minute with the third and final goal of the game. Kaylee Hauck recorded her first assist to give the Lancers the 3-0 advantage at the break.

Witz, White, and Lee all recorded their first goals of the season. Four Lancers finished with two or more shots on the day, as Malia Cerdon paced the Lancers with a team-high three shots. Noa Schumacher and Mikayla O'Brien combined for the Lancers' first shutout on the season between the sticks.
