Tokyo, Japan - August 4 - The U.S. Olympic Women's Water Polo Team will meet ROC (Russian Olympic Committee) for the second time at the Tokyo Olympic Games, but this time with a lot more at stake. The two will square off in the semifinal round on August 5 in Tokyo at 3:30pm local time/2:30am eastern on August 5/11:30pm pacific on August 4. The match will air LIVE on CNBC and stream live via the NBC Sports app or by clicking here. The USA Women defeated ROC 18-5 earlier in pool play but ROC is coming off a strong victory over Australia in quarterfinal action. The two teams met three times earlier this year in Southern California where Team USA swept ROC (competing as Russia) in the series. Prior to this year the two squads last met in the Olympic Games back in 2008, a 12-7 win for Team USA in group play.
The U.S. Olympic Men's Water Polo Team will also see a familiar face in their next match as they battle Italy in the 5th-8th place semifinal on Friday, August 6 in Tokyo at 6:20pm local time/5:20am eastern/2:20am pacific. The match will stream LIVE via the NBC Sports app or by clicking here. TV broadcast information will be shared as soon as it is available. The two met in the group stage with Italy outlasting Team USA 12-11. That match came just weeks after Team USA upended Italy in the semifinals of the FINA World League Super Final 10-8. Most recently on the Olympic stage, the two programs met in 2016 and 2008, where Team USA earned wins in the group stage.
