POMONA -- Logan Gopperton went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI and Austin Isenhart kept opposing hitters off balance from the mound, as the No. 16 Cal Poly Pomona baseball team secured a four-game series split thanks to a convincing 11-3 victory over Cal State L.A. on Sunday at Scolinos Field in Pomona.

The Broncos rise to 10-8 overall and 8-4 in the CCAA. The Golden Eagles fell to 4-11 (3-8 CCAA).

Isenhart (2-2) only ran into trouble in the sixth inning when he gave up two runs on four hits and loaded the bases all with no outs.  However, he was able to get out of the inning with consecutive strikeouts, followed by a groundout to leave the bases jammed.  The only other run he allowed was a leadoff solo home run in the top of the fifth.

In all, Isenhart went seven strong innings before Chris Burnette and Anthony Mizrahi came on in relief to shut out the Golden Eagles the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, the CPP offense generated plenty of run support, plating two in the second, one in the third, two more in the fifth, then exploded for six more in the bottom of the seventh for the 11-3 win.

Nick Peifer and Matt Manskar each had two hits apiece and Patrick Vizcaino hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left center in the seventh.

Cal Poly Pomona returns to the field Thursday when it hosts Cal State San Bernardino for the first of four games, beginning at 6:00 pm.
