The Hawks scored early and often, opening the match with two goals within the first two minutes of play. CUI evened the contest at two apiece with back-to-back goals from Lindsey Heaney, assisted by Jordan, and then from Jordan, assisted by Dailynn Santoro. Hartwick put the next three goals in the net, taking a 5-2 with 2:12 to play in the opening period, before Graham brought the Eagles within two with under two minutes to play. Hartwick held a 5-3 lead after the first quarter.
Hartwick dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 5-0 in the period to take a 10-3 lead at the end of the first half.
The offensive power of the Hawks continued to shine as they scored the first two goals of the third quarter. Ramsie Haskell assisted Graham on the first Eagle goal of the half with 4:48 remaining in the period. CUI scored again three minutes later when Jordan scored with an assist from Madelynn Knust, cutting the deficit to 13-5 at the end of the third.
CUI and Hartwick played an even final frame with each team scoring four times. Haskell and Santoro went back-to-back for CUI before the Hawks snuck a goal in to go up 14-7 halfway through the quarter. Jordan and Graham each scored once more, but CUI was unable to overcome the power of the Hawks, dropping the match 17-9.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 5-11 on the season. They play again on Friday, Apr. 6 when they travel to Fresno State to take on the Bulldogs at 3 p.m.
