U.S. Figure Skating announced the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 Team Event participant for the women's short program on Saturday evening. The Team Event is set for Feb. 4-7 at Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing.
Karen Chen will make her team event debut in the women's short program. Chen is the 2017 U.S. champion and a 2018 Olympian.
Competition for the first round of the team event concludes Sunday morning with the women's short program beginning at 9:30 a.m. (8:30 p.m. ET Feb. 5). The United States leads after the first day of competition with 28 points. The Russian Olympic Committee is in second with 26 points, while China sits in third with 21.
