Malibu Invitational Concludes at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team closed out the second day of the Malibu Invitational, hosting the middle distance and sprint events on Sunday at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.

The day started with Allie Carter (San Diego, Calif./Del Norte HS) taking second in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:09.41. That was followed by a second place finish from Jessica Mosbaugh (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.77.

Later in the day, Allison Naasz (Lodi, Calif./Tokay HS) provided a highlight for the Waves by swimming a personal best time of 24.88 in the 50 yard freestyle and Mosbaugh picked up a win in the 100 yard butterfly, swimming a time of 58.62. Nicolette Barreiro (Valencia, Calif./Hart HS) finished fourth in the 100 yard butterfly and Carter finished fifth in the race.

Mosbaugh also owned the win in the 100 yard breaststroke, swimming a 1:04.51, which was just outside the top 5 all-time Pepperdine times. Julianna Chan (Davis, Calif./Da Vinci Charter Academy) grabbed a fifth place finish in that race as well.

Naasz was also a second away from earning a spot in the top 5 all-time Pepperdine times, swimming a 53.78 in the 100 yard freestyle.

Now two meets into the season, the Waves continue the 2015-16 campaign Nov. 6-7 at the Mustang Invitational hosted by Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
