Northern California Severe Weather Alert

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH
THURSDAY AFTERNOON ABOVE 4000 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WATCH ABOVE 4000 FEET...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE
TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 8 TO 17 INCHES WITH EXCEPTION OF AROUND 24 INCHES FROM SOUTHEAST SHASTA COUNTY THROUGH WESTERN PLUMAS
  COUNTY. EXPECT HIGHER AMOUNTS OVER LASSEN PEAK.

* ELEVATION: ABOVE 4000 FEET.

* TIMING: BEGINNING IN THE COASTAL MOUNTAINS AND WESTERN SHASTA
  COUNTY MOUNTAINS LATE TUESDAY MORNING AND SPREADING OVER THE
  SIERRA NEVADA BY TUESDAY NIGHT.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: HIGHER COASTAL RANGE AND SHASTA COUNTY
  MOUNTAINS...EASTERN TEHAMA AND WESTERN PLUMAS COUNTIES...ALL
  TRANS SIERRA HIGHWAYS.

* WINDS: SOUTH 15 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH EXCEPT FOR
  GUSTS TO 60 MPH NEAR THE SIERRA NEVADA CREST. STRONGEST WINDS
  TUESDAY AFTERNOON INTO WEDNESDAY.

* IMPACTS: SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL WITH POTENTIAL FOR BLOWING AND
  DRIFTING SNOW ON SIERRA ROADWAYS MAY RESULT IN HAZARDOUS
  TRAVELING CONDITIONS. LOCALIZED WHITEOUT CONDITIONS POSSIBLE.
