Santa Monica Playhouse Presents a Special Family Theatre Event! Enchanted Fairytale Interactive Theatre

Santa Monica, California - In celebration of the coming of Spring, Santa Monica Playhouse Family Theatre presents ENCHANTED FAIRYTALE INTERACTIVE THEATRE, an exciting and entertaining theatre experience for kids ages 4 to 10 and their grown-ups. The ENCHANTED FAIRYTALE INTERACTIVE THEATRE experience is just the thing if the grandchildren are coming for the weekend, or Moms and Dads want to do something different and uniquely theatrical with their children, and will be offered on two special days: Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31, 2013 (to celebrate Easter!), from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.

            Directed by the gaily costumed Santa Monica Playhouse Enchanted Fairytale Players, ENCHANTED FAIRYTALE INTERACTIVE THEATRE invites participants to explore the magic of theatre for a totally interactive afternoon of story-telling, sing-a-longs, crafts, face-painting, enactment of a
fairytale, theatre games, refreshments and special gifts. Kids get the chance to make new friends, create handicrafts, sing, dance, and act out a fairytale, as they all take over the stage for 90 minutes of pure theatre fun.

            "Playing interactive theatre games helps develop imagination and self-confidence," says Playhouse Director of Education Serena Dolinsky. "Hands-on prop-making allows children to explore their world through tangible materials they can manipulate, and receive creative fulfillment with instant results, using their prop as they act in the chosen fairytale, legend or folk story of the day. Parents work as partners by taking an active role in all aspects of the program. The experience also supports parents in their communicative and team-building efforts, while at the same time providing children with the confidence needed to excel in upcoming school programs and giving them a head start on learning, imagining and problem solving. But most of all - its fun!"

             ENCHANTED FAIRYTALE INTERACTIVE THEATRE will take place on Saturday, March 30 and Easter Sunday March 31 - from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. All craft materials plus free refreshments are included. Admission is $15.00 for children 4 to 10, one free adult admission with every paid child's ticket; additional accompanying adults are $5.00 each. Each guest also will also receive a special gift - an official Santa Monica Playhouse theatre activities coloring book. Participation is limited to 15 families per event and advance reservations are required.
