THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HANFORD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
10 AM TO 10 PM PST TUESDAY FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE
SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN
EFFECT FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 12 INCHES.
* TIMING: LIGHT SNOW WILL BEGIN EARLY TUESDAY MORNING ACROSS
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK AND SPREAD SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE
SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA BY MIDDAY. MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY
SNOWFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE FROM LATE TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH
TUESDAY EVENING.
* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: CAMP NELSON...GIANT FOREST...JOHNSONDALE...
LODGEPOLE...SHAVER LAKE...YOSEMITE VALLEY.
* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 75 MPH ALONG THE
RIDGE TOPS AND BELOW PASSES.
* IMPACTS: SNOW MAY MAKE ROADS IMPASSABLE AND WILL LOWER
VISIBILITIES. WINDS WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW...AND COULD MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT.
