BREAKING NEWS: LaGuardia evacuated over suspicious package report

UPDATE 11:41am New York - According to The Port Authority says the all-clear has been given after the upper level of the central terminal building at LaGuardia Airport was evacuated Tuesday morning.

Agency spokesman Steve Coleman told WCBS 880 that a suspicious package prompted the evacuation.

The Federal Aviation Administration had put a ground stop in place for any planes departing from the airport.

The incident began at around 10:30 a.m.


BREAKING NEWS: Part of New York's LaGuardia Airport has been evacuated due to a report of a suspicious package.

According to CBS New York (http://cbsloc.al/11aani4 ) says the evacuation Tuesday morning involved the upper level of the airport's central terminal building.

Agency spokesman Steve Coleman told WCBS 880 that a suspicious package prompted the evacuation.

The Federal Aviation Administration said there’s a ground stop in place for any planes departing from the airport.

The incident began at around 10:30 a.m.

The bomb squad is en route.

New York City is on a heightened security alert as a precaution due to the Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.
